Our Commitment to Privacy
Harold W. Wells & Son, Inc. dba Wells Insurance is referred to as (“Agency”, “Our”) throughout this policy.
Maintaining the trust and confidence of our clients is of the utmost importance at our Agency. To provide a quote for insurance coverage or sell a policy to an individual or business, we must collect several pieces of information about the person or business seeking coverage, including personally identifiable information (PII) and in some cases protected health information (PHI). All information collected by our Agency is private and we employ several tools to ensure it remains confidential.
To help you understand how we protect your personal information, this Privacy Policy describes our current privacy practices as required under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, 15 U.S.C. § 6801 et. seq., North Carolina law. Throughout your relationship with our Agency, we will advise you of our privacy practices as required by law.
Personal Information We May Collect and Use
You provide us with most of the information we need as part of the application process to provide, administer, and service our insurance products and services. We also request reports from various consumer-reporting agencies in connection with your application for insurance and/or any renewal of such insurance. The kind of information we gather depends upon the type of policy, but may include:

- Driver License Number
- Policy Number
- Family member information
- Financial and consumer Information
- Vehicle information
In addition to the above personal information, we may also collect information about your transactions with us such as:

We may obtain additional information about you from third party sources such as:
- Claims Reports
- Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs)

- Property Inspections
If you decide to place your insurance coverage with our Agency, your file may contain information connected with any claims you’ve made. Claims representatives may comment, for example, on the condition of your property, or let us know if there have been any changes in the way it’s used. We may also keep claims related police reports on file.
Occasionally it may be necessary to collect medical information about a prospective or contracted client. For example, we may need to know whether a physical impairment affects a person’s ability to drive safely.
Who Has Access to This Information
All collected information is maintained securely in our records and remains confidential. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your personal information. However, while conducting business, there are circumstances in which we may disclose your personal information to third parties that need the information to perform a business, professional, or insurance function for us. Examples of the types of individuals or third-party organizations and companies to which these disclosures may be made include:
- Adjusters
- Agents
- Appraisers
- Attorneys
- Authorized Agency personnel
- Reinsurance companies
- Insurance support organizations
- Organizations conducting actuarial research or audits
- Any business that may service or repair damage to your property in response to a claim

We will refer to and use all collected information to quote, issue, and service your in-force insurance policies. Except as described below, we will not disclose information about you without your authorization. We may, without your prior permission and only if permitted by law, provide information about you contained in our records and files to certain people or organizations such as:
- Our affiliated property and casualty insurance companies, including brokers
- An independent claims adjuster or investigator once a policy is established
We often work with third-party organizations and companies to help us develop our products, services, computer systems and marketing approaches. As permitted by law, we may share your personal information with these companies. Whenever we hire non-affiliated third parties to help assist us in our business, we require them by contract to maintain the confidentiality of your personal information and abide by all applicable privacy laws. We do not authorize these parties to use or disclose your personal information for any purpose other than for the work they are performing on our behalf or as required by law.
Our Agency does not sell, rent, or disclose any of your personal information, other than as previously noted. Should your relationship with our company end, we will continue to limit any disclosures of your personal information just as we would if you continued to be a policyholder with our Agency.
The Campaign Registry (TCR) SMS/MMS Texting Compliance
Wells Insurance complies with applicable laws and regulations governing text messaging and email marketing, including TCR, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the CAN-SPAM Act, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We respect your privacy and are committed to providing you with transparency and control over the use of your phone number and email address for marketing purposes.
By providing your phone number and email address and opting-in to receive messages from us, you consent to receive marketing and promotional text messages and emails from us. We may use your phone number and email address to send you transactional messages related to your account.
You can opt out of receiving text messages and emails from us at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions provided in messages or by contacting our customer service team. Standard messaging and data rates may apply.
We do not sell or rent your personal data to any third party. We may share your data with our service providers who help us to deliver our messaging services and to fulfill your requests.
Children’s Privacy
Our services are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. We comply with COPPA requirements.
This website uses Google AdWords
This website uses the Google AdWords remarketing service to advertise on third party websites (including Google) to previous visitors to our site. It could mean that we advertise to previous visitors who haven’t completed a task on our site, for example using the contact form to make an inquiry. This could be in the form of an advertisement on the Google search results page, or a site in the Google Display Network. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on someone’s past visits to the Wells Insurance website. Of course, any data collected will be used in accordance with our own privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy.

How To Find Out What Information We Have About You
Information we collect about you is kept in our policy records. You have the right to know what kind of information we keep in our records about you and to have access to the information and to request and receive a copy. However, we will not disclose information collected for the evaluation of a claim, in relation to a lawsuit or when the possibility of litigation exists, or if it is medical in nature.
If you think your file contains incorrect information, notify us in writing what you believe is incorrect, the reasons supporting your conclusion, and what should be corrected, amended or deleted. We will investigate the matter and either correct the information in your policy file or notify you of the reasons we refuse to correct, amend or delete the information. If we correct your information, we will send the correction to any person or organizations to whom we previously disclosed the information, to any person you specifically designate, and as required by law. If we refuse to make the correction, we will keep a copy of your request, and any other information you send us, in your policy records. If we disclose the information in your records at a later date, we will include a copy of your correction request and any additional information you have provided.
For us to safeguard your information, your request to see and copy such information must be in writing and include your name, address, policy number(s), daytime phone number, best time of day for us to call and a copy of personal identification such as your driver’s license.
