When you report a claim, initially, especially in a major catastrophic loss, a lot of the folks that are plugged in to help receive that initial call, they may not work in claims normally. They could be working in underwriting or many other areas. So please be patient with them. They're doing the best they can.

They may not be able to answer all your questions, but it's key that they get the information so that adjuster can be assigned and the claim can start being worked on. After the claim is filed, a field adjuster will be assigned to come out and inspect the properties. They'll usually contact you within twenty four to forty eight hours. So they'll schedule that with you, come out, complete their assessment, and hand in the report to the desk adjuster at the carrier.

Then they will provide an estimate of the cost to repair. While they are processing your claim, you're going to need to hire a contractor. You may want to several come out, inspect your damage, and see who you would prefer to work with for the repairs. And then there's probably going to be some back and forth between the adjuster and the contractor to come to agreement on the price.
