We at Wells Marine Insurance are a team of dedicated insurance professionals focused specifically on insuring boats, yachts, and the businesses surrounding those industries.

My passion is life on the water, whether it's boating, fishing, surfing, diving, and this allows me to combine my business expertise with some of the passions that I have.

What I do at Wells Marine Insurance varies from day to day. The large focus of that is on boats and yachts. However, the other side of the business is the commercial aspect of it, would include marinas, boat dealerships, boat builders, and marine contractors.

Some of the various coverage options for those different types of businesses include marina operators legal liability coverage, there would also be marine general liability coverage, and then there's also on the employee side, the workers' comp can vary depending on the risk.

The policies for your residential or commercial contractors, they're typically filled with exclusions for work over the water, which would leave a marine contractor if they had the same type of coverage with a large coverage gap. Their employees have workers' comp coverage, but a lot of those coverages go beyond what the state requires. And this gets into federal requirements such as the Jones Act or USL&H, employees that are working on vessels that are not owned by the company performing that work. The policies that we write for our marine contract fill those gaps in coverage.

The coverages for a marina can vary greatly from one risk to another. It could be everything from a community that has a private marina, which is just your peers and docks, to a full service marina that includes a ship store, fuel sales, and sometimes on occasion, full service boat repair as well.

These boat dealerships and boat builders have unique needs both on and off the water. When they're doing sea trials or testing a repair job, they're gonna need protection and indemnity coverage, which is your liability over the water on that vessel. You're also typically talking about large inventory that they have on hand, can be millions of dollars worth of inventory. So we provide that protection while it's on the lot and also when they're bringing it to boat shows and transporting it to various locations.

People should choose Wells Marine because we are marine specific. We have access to every single one of the carriers that are available. When we're asked to do the shopping, we're truly looking at every single one of those available carriers. We can tailor a product that's going to work for you and meet your budget needs.
