Accounting Manager

Wells Insurance is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented and computer proficient Accounting Manager for the Accounting department in our downtown Wilmington office. This position will report to the CFO and ensure that work within the Accounting department is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.

 

Wells Insurance is one of the largest and most established insurance agencies in North Carolina. Currently representing national and regional insurance companies and providing coverage to individuals and businesses in 36 states.

Essential Functions

  • Audit monthly financial statements
  • Prepare monthly financial analysis including – income statements, balance sheets, agency retention and monthly cash position
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements
  • Participate in yearly annual budget process
  • Assist in the development and implementation of workflows and internal quality controls to enhance the efficiency of the department
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including day to day accounting

Requirements

  • BS in Accounting
  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Leadership experience
  • Proven strategic planning, analytical and organizational skills
  • Highly proficient in Excel – data analytics using Excel and pivot tables
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent time management skills

Preferred Qualities

  • CPA or MSA
  • Experience in the Insurance industry
  • Be open to change and be flexible!
